Based on the format of the popular TV makeover shows, this DVD shows Gossamer Gear founder Glen Van Peski, dubbed the "Guru of Lightness", taking experienced traditional backpacker and professional mountain guide Jackie Paulson on a three-day trip in the mountains.

On Day One, Glen teaches Jackie some of the basic concepts of ultralight backpacking while she hikes with her traditional gear. Day Two finds Glen sorting through Jackie's pack, tossing most of it out as she negotiates in vain to keep her cherished gear. He replaces it with a pack filled with lightweight gear (without telling her what's in the pack). As the remainder of the trip unfolds, Jackie discovers what a cutting-edge ultralight kit looks like, how to use her newfound gear and techniques, and realizes she can lighten her load without sacrificing comfort.
