| | Helly Hansen LIFA Prowool Pants - Black No these are not just long johns, because long johns sound like something your grandpa used to wear on a cold day on the Prairie, or while watching the Waltons. | Sport Thermal Underwear A Prowool Baselayer in its most basic form is thermal underwear. It provides a thermal layer to keep you toasty woasty in cold conditions. But Helly Hansen prowool does much more than your bog standard, and let's face it rather stinky, old fashioned thermal underwear. On the outside of the base layer, the finest quality merino wool is used to provide the thermal layer. On the inside Helly Hansen have borrowed the natural thermal and wicking properties of the artic polar bear (I hope they asked first...). The new LIFA hollow fibre technology acts like polar bear hair and traps more heat while allowing maximum moisture transfer.
And this underwear doesn't stink (as long as it gets washed every decade or so) because of it's natural anti bacterial properties
So don't ever say to Helly Hansen that their prowool base layers are just thermal underwear because that would be an insult to them, the New Zealand merino sheep and the artic polar bear.
