 | Helly Hansen have been arround for a long time, since 1877 to be exact. Norwegian sea captain Helly Juell Hansen and his wife was sick of getting soaked so he began producing oilskin jackets and trousers made from a coarse linen soaked in linseed oil. These first Helly Hansen jackets certainly struck a nerve in the market, because over the first five years they sold approximately 10,000 pieces. In 1878 the Helly Hansen won a diploma for excellence at the Paris Expo, and began exporting its products.
