Adventure Travel - 5/5 for Montane products
Posted Date: Friday 21st December 2007
In the Jan/Feb issue of Adventure Travel Magazine, all submitted Montane products received 5 out of 5 and were given an "excellent" rating in their categories.

Montane Flux Jacket
Top quality Primaloft insulation means low weight and small packsize. A dipped tail offers good protection, saving you from those builders bum moments. The Montane Flux fit and cut is excellent, as is the fully adjustable insulated hood with wired peak. There are two big zipped chest pockets, and two zipped side pockets above the harness line. Collar is fleece lined for comfort and cuffs are Velcro adjustable.

Technically, about as good as it gets for an insulated jacket, and looks good on the street too.

In a line - You can buy this with no worries.

Montane Anti-Freeze Jacket
...it's a nicely finished ultra lightweight jacket with a tiny packsize. The 800 fill 93% Wild Ukranian Goose down lofts superbly. Unusually there is a waist cinch, as well as hem, zipped side pockets, large zipped inner bottle pocket (Female Version) and the cuffs are semi elasticated and Velcro adjusting. The Montane Anti Freeze Fit and cut are great, with a slightly dipped tail for extra protection.

In a line - Super light, super warm and looking good.

Montane Extreme Smock
Not an insulated jacket of the 'duvet' style but a seriously warm alternative, especially for active use in very cold conditions. The Montane Extreme Smock is a pile/pertex combo (some would say the original and genuine soft shell) which means it's like wearing a luxury deep pile carpet with a windproof, water resistant outer that breathes exceptionally well. The Montane cut and fit is athletic and you may need to go up a size. In our experience - try one, you may never go back to the conventional.

In a line - Serious alternative for the active winter outdoor enthusiast.

Montane Female Extreme Smock
A different (and older) take on the idea of the soft shell, this combination of warm pile inner and wind resistant and water repellent Pertex outer shell is designed to remove the traditional layering idea, opting instead to make a single outer and insulating layer more versatile for heat and comfort adjustment. Venting options and really breathable fabric make it ideal for stop/start high energy activities, especially winter climbing, scrambling and mountain biking. Fit is on the narrow side.

In a line - Put it on and leave it on, whatever the activity.
