|Terra Nova Laser 20L Rucksack Review - TGO Magazine March 2009|
TGO Recommends March 2009
Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5
A truly minimalist pack. The nylon body has mesh pockets, hip belt and back strips; the base is reinforced. A narrow webbing hip belt with mesh wings is comfortable and secure, while a long zip down the centre front works well for loading and adjusting gear. Water bottles can be carried on the side pouches and accessed on the move, although the drawcords need two hand for adjustment. Side compression is rather feeble. The pack is stable while running and walking. With a very light load this is the business.
Their March 2009 packs review was the first time they had seen the Laser 20L, and they were quick to award it the "lightest in test" award and their recommendation for minimalist travel. Once again the Laser 20L was considerably lighter than the competition and held it's place amongst the more established backpacking sacks on offer, with only the thin materials necessary on a pack of this weight preventing it from getting the full 5 star report. If you are trying to find a lightweight pack that will take a heavier load, the Laser 35L is well worth a look.
