Here's a few things to do in the first couple of weeks in June.
Have a go Canoeing
Canoeing taster sessions in beautiful surroundings to help you get to grips with the basics. Change of clothing recommended. Sessions at 10.30, 11.45, 13.00, 14.30 and 15.45. Age 7+ and suitable for family groups with young children.

The Yomp Mountain Challenge
The 30th running of The Yomp Mountain Challenge, established in 1983 to commemorate the achievements of the British Forces engaged in the Falklands Campaign which was 30 years ago this year. There is a choice of three courses over the fells above Kirkby Stephen, 6.5 miles, 11.5 miles or 23 miles, all courses are marked and marshalled, electronic timing system.

The Yomp Mountain Challenge
KR Guided Walks
Discover Wainwright's 'most beautiful square mile in England'. We offer a variety of walks in this area including through the 'Jaws of Borrowdale' to admire the spectacular views from Castle Crag, the site of an ancient hill fort. There is the opportunity to visit Millican Dalton's cave the home of the famous twentieth century hermit. All routes end walking along the Upper Derwent River and finally to a local café for refreshments.

3 pubs all within walking distance offering a choice of over 100 beers to taste over the weekend. There will be special menus and entertainment over the weekend.

6th June - 7 course beer and food at 19.00.
8th June - Family fun and games at 13.00 including welly throwing and pizza eating competition. Live folk music from 21.00.
9th June - Tug of war competition at 15.00.

Grasmere Gallop
Come and take part in the Grasmere Gallop 2013. Get fit, have fun and raise money to help our Rangers look after this fantastic landscape.

You can choose from a 10k or 17k trail, taking in some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lakes along the way. Or if those distances sound too challenging, there's also a 6k fun run, perfect for families and a 10k Nordic walk, as well as a mini 'teddy dash' for the littlest legs on Grasmere's show field.

Grasmere Gallop
Keswick Street Theatre
Each week the audience will enjoy 10 short scenes of "potted pantomime", depicting snippets of the towns’ history in a unique and humorous style during this walking tour of the town centre. Two new scenes will be included in this year’s season – “The Abraham Brothers”, and “Silent Movie” – both written by Bob Bryden. These new scenes will be performed every week from 4th June onwards.

Silver How and Blea Rigg
Looking down on Grasmere and Rydal Water Silver Howe is a delightful summit. Once we reach the top we can enjoy the ridge to Blea Rigg with its tarns and rocky outcrops before descending to Grasmere.

Ascent 400m, Distance 9km, Grade B.
