Integral Designs ultralight compression stuff sacks
The more bulky your sleeping bag, the bigger your backpack will need to be. By compressing your sleeping bag you can travel with a smaller pack, or a pack that is better balanced. This will make a huge difference to comfort and fatigue.
Silcoat nylon is tough, water-resistant and very slippery, making it easy to slide a sleeping bag in and out. The sack has a reinforced drawcord top and cord lock closure. With 1/2" nylon webbing straps (3/4" on Large size) and ladderlock buckles, the sack can be compressed evenly. The lid and base are reinforced with 200 D oxford nylon. The bottom pull strap makes it easy to remove a stuffed down bag
Caution: never leave a sleeping bag in a compression stuff sack for extended periods, as it will reduce the longevity of the insulation.

Photon MicroLight Freedom
The Photon Freedom Micro Light is the easiest-to-use, most powerful, full-featured micro light available. All it takes is a simple squeeze of the button to give you instant full power illumination at any time. The Freedom also includes an adjustable brightness feature to help increase battery life. To dim the light once it is turned on, simply press and hold the button to dim the light to the desired level. Pressing and holding the button when the light is already off will turn it on at the lowest level and allow you to gradually increase the brightness to give you just the amount of light you need to accomplish your task without disturbing your night vision or disrupting those around you. When needed, the four safety strobe functions (fast, medium, slow, & SOS) can be accessed by continuing to hold the button down. Once the light has dimmed or brightened fully, it will proceed to cycle through the various strobe functions. Simply release the button when you reach the desired beacon mode.
An additional "signaling" mode can be accessed by tapping the button several times in rapid succession. When in the signaling mode, the Freedom Micro will behave like the squeeze-only Photon I, with the light turning on only while the button is pressed and off when it is released. To exit the signaling mode and return the light to normal operation, simply press and hold the button for several seconds until the light turns off.
For a limited time, the Hands Free Multi-Purpose Photon Clip comes free with the Photon Freedom Micro Light. The Photon Clip allows for hands free operation and will turn your Freedom Micro Light into a headlamp when clipped to a cap or your clothing. Aquamira Water Treatment
Aquamira Water Treatment
Aquamira is widely recognized as an effective treatment for backcountry water sources. It is a two-part system, where you mix the chlorine dioxide and the activator, let them combine for 5 minutes, then empty into the water being treated. We recommend repackaging the solutions into mini dropper bottles, which are good for about a 5-day trip. The mini dropper bottles provided generate smaller drops than the 1 oz. bottles that the Aquamira is packaged in, so either up the standard dosage from 7 drops to 10 drops per liter, or allow a 50% longer time for treatment. For more information, see reviews under BackpackGearTest (under Pristine, same chemical composition), and the manufacturer information below.
We recommend using the opaque mini dropper bottle for the Part A, and labeling it with a permanent marker as such. This is because the Part A solution is more photo-sensitive. We include a clear mini dropper bottle for the Part B, because this allows you to monitor the amount of solution remaining in your kit. The small mixing cup included in the Aquamira conveniently fits onto the bottom of the mini dropper bottles (it is a tight fit). Some people, after having purchased subsequent Aquamira supplies so they have multiple mixing cups, put a mixing cup on the bottom of both mini dropper bottles, so they have the capability to simultaneously mix solution in exact quantities to treat two water bottles.
1. Why treat stored water with AQUAMIRA™?
It is important to protect all stored water supplies from bacteria. AQUAMIRA™ is an extremely versatile water treatment that can be used to treat water as containers are being filled to protect water against bacterial growth. AQUAMIRA may also be used to treat existing stored water supplies to refresh water quality and enhance taste.

3. How safe is AQUAMIRA?
Water treated with AQUAMIRA is safe to drink on a regular basis when treated as directed. Other water treatment chemicals may create foul tastes and odors, and discolor water. Some chemicals, like iodine, chlorine, and other halogens, create potentially harmful by-products.
4. How does AQUAMIRA work?
When AQUAMIRA parts A and B are mixed together, chlorine dioxide is activated and releases oxygen in a highly active form to effectively kill bacteria and enhance the taste of water.
5. How much water will one AQUAMIRA kit treat?
One AQUAMIRA kit (two one-ounce bottles) will treat up to 30 gallons (120 liters) of water.
6. Is it essential to premix parts A and B before adding to water, or can each part be added separately into the water container?
AQUAMIRA parts A and B must be premixed in the small mixing cap before adding it to water. Premixing parts A and B activates the chlorine dioxide and begins the release of oxygen that kills bacteria. The mixture will turn yellow as the chlorine dioxide activates. Only then is AQUAMIRA ready to be added to drinking water.
7. Are there any special mixing requirements when treating large quantities of water?
Premix all the AQUAMIRA necessary to treat the entire container of water with one dose. Do not treat large containers of water with multiple small doses of AQUAMIRA. For example, if you are treating a full five-gallon container of water, premix all the AQUAMIRA needed to treat all five gallons, allow the mixture to activate for five minutes, then pour the entire mixture into the water.
8. Can AQUAMIRA be premixed in a container other than the mixing cap provided?
Other small, clean containers may be used to premix AQUAMIRA provided the container is small enough to allow parts A and B to mix together thoroughly.
