Sealskinz Hat Technology
SealSkinz Hats are covered with a durable nylon outer layer. Nylon is virtually indestructible, with a tenacity of 50 g/tex against, for example cotton, 32 g/tex or wool, 15g/tex. It has excellent elastic recovery properties: 97% elastic recovery at 5% extension against cotton (47% recovery) and wool (88% recovery). There are a lot of number and percentages there so they must be very good.
The Sealskinz nylon layer is not next to the skin, The inner layer of the hat is designed to be in direct contact with the skin, and to regulate the climate inside the hat, keeping the wearer comfortable.
The main factor in comfort is breathability. Sealkinz Hats are breathable which allows moisture transmission through the membrane, between the inner and outer layer, is driven by the humidity and temperature differences between the internal and external climates. |
